Z is for Zoology Walk

Today was the last of Joyce's Alphabet of Walks, in Cambridge.

This was the invite from Joyce...

"Tuesday December 2nd Z is for Zoology. The Alphabet Walks Endeth 😊

A very long/complicated email went out in the week to those that have shown interest in attending the concert and activities beforehand. There is an update!  The Domestic Bursar at Newnham College, Wendy, is reserving seating for us at The Iris Café 12pm-1pm.  She is going to make sure that there is enough soup for us all too. There are sandwiches and cakes too. This is wonderful news as we can then all be in one place for lunch and near to West Road also.

There are around 25 of us in the Concert ‘group’ so I fully understand if you wish to do your own thing before the lunch. For the rest of us, the A+A museum will only allow 10 people in so the remainder will enjoy the Earth Sciences Museum which is close by. This is rather wonderful too.  A reminder that the concert starts at 1.10pm at 11 West Road CB3 9DP or what3words///added.yours.brain. It is a free concert with a retiring donation if you so wish. "

Knowing I have had a knee problem which has limited my walking for the last few months, Joyce had kindly arranged for me to have a parking space at the West Road concert hall. I gave Squints a lift and we parked there before heading for the Isirs Cafe to meet everyone else for lunch.

Then it was on to the concert....

Joyce ssent me the photo at the top of the group outside the Zoology Department, and here are a few of my own photos.

Parked at the West Road Concert Hall.

It was only a short walk across the Sidgwick site to Newnham College.

We had a reserved area in the Iris cafe.

And so to the concert.

Here is the ensmble in action. We had 3 carols to sing O Come, All Ye Faithful, It came Uopn the Midnight Clear and, to finish with Hark! The Herald Angels sing, all to arramgements by David Willcocks, and 6 other items for the ensmble, all arrangments by Roger Harvey

The arrangements were very good and the performances excellent.

Thank-you Joyce for arranging everything and thank-you to CUBE for the great concert.
