Snape, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness

We have got sister Kirsty and her husband David staying for a few days today we took them on a trip to a part of Suffolk they hadn't visited before.

Here are a few photos. We started by visiting Snape Maltings and doing a short walk along part of the Sailors' Path and around Snape marsh.

A lapwing in the estuary mud.

There was a lovely exhibition of pictures from the Singh Twins' Slaves of Fashion series in the foyer of the concert hall.

While Dawn and Kirsty visited the other shops, David and I enjoyed browsing the Early Music shop.

We headed on to Aldeburgh.

We didn't get to Aldeburgh until after 2pm so were limited in our choices of places for lunch and ended up at Prezzo.

The Moot House.

The statue of Snook had been crochet-bombed.

Kirsty and David at Maggie Hambling's The Scallop.

We returned to Aldeburgh via the old railway line.

We took a little drive down to the Martello tower to see the Yacht Club...

...and, in the distance the pagodas on Orford Ness.

We took another little detour before heading for home to Thorpeness meare, with views of the windmill and the House in the Clouds.

A lovely day out. You can find more of my photos here on Flickr.
