The Times Crossword Setters After-lunch Drinks

I had a day trip to London today, culminating with drinks at The George with a number of setters of The Times crosswords.

My Times for The Times friend Paul is over from New York for the week and, having heard about the Times setters' lunch being today, arranged to meet up for lunch ourselves and then head on to The George to meet some of the setters.

Paul and I had arranged to have lunch at Oliveto in Elizabeth St in Belgravia and as I had plenty of time, I decided to walk from Liverpool Street to the restaurant - a walk of about 4 miles. My route took me past Bank, The Millennium Bridge, the Embankment, Northumberland Avenue, Trafalgar square and St. James' Park.

We had an excellent lunch (thank-you Paul!) and took the tube to London Bridge, arriving at The George a little after 4pm The setters started arriving about 15 minutes later.

I just had an old compact camera with me today (which I was trying out). Here are a few of photos.

There were parakeets as well as pigeons being fed in St. James' Park.

A lot of the shops in the area surrounding Oliveto have floral displays. Well Chelsea Flower Show is on this week,

The restaurant.

Not a very flattering phot of Paul. Sorry.

A nice day out. Thank-you Paul for lunch and thank-you setters for letting us join you.
