Norton Walk

Today we had a circular walk from Norton Church via Tostock.

This was the invite from Joyce.

"Friday May 15th I have devised a 9-mile circular walk from Norton to Tostock to coincide with a visit to the pub for lunchtime drinks and a toastie sandwich/chips if you wish? (Gardeners Arms). We will meet/park at St Andrews Church, Church Lane Norton Bury St Edmunds, IP31 3NB.  Church Lane is very narrow and off Ashfield Road. Let’s meet at 10.30am. It is 5 miles to Tostock and the pub opens at 12.30pm. Please bring a packed lunch or let me know if you would prefer to eat at pub. 4 miles back to Norton."

This was our route today.

Here are some of my photos.

There were 15 of us on the walk today. Her is Joyce telling us about the walk in the church car park before we set off.

We passed the church.

We admired this cottage garden.

Single file here.

We crossed the grounds of this house.

The summerhouse.

They have their own aircraft hanger....

...and runway.

We took a slight detour to see this.

Over the railway line now.

We had some lovely paths.

The rape flowers have turned to seed already.

We came to Tostock.

Our lunch stop was at the Gardeners' Arms.

Some of us went inside and had a beer and toasties...

...while others ate their packed lunches outside.

Time to go on. Another 4 miles to get back.

I liked this sign.

We saw plenty of horse paddocks today.

Back under the railway.

I liked this house.

Not far now - we had come to some circular walk signs.

There's the church.

We were soon back at the car park and saying our goodbyes.

Thank-you Joyce for leading us round and to everyone else for the additional company.
