Portsmouth Sundown

Yesterday we converged on Portsmouth for Laura's graduation today (q.v.). Laura and Laurence drove from Bedford and we left home after Dawn got home from school, leaving about 5:30pm. We were all staying at Portsmouth City Centre Travelodge, where we had 2 rooms.

We arrived about 8:15 and, I parked at the convenient RC Cathedral Car Park just round the corner from the hotel. Once we'd got sorted, we set out for some fish&chips, which we had at The Hard.

This was the view from our 7th floor bedroom window before we set out.

We liked this mural.

We had quite a wait for our fish and chips to be cooked,

But then we headed for the waterfront to eat them.

The Spinnaker tower is lit up at night.

We found some seats by The Hard in the area of Portsmouth known as Portsea.

Here we had a view of HMS Warrior.

The lighting of the Spinnaker tower changes colour.

We then visited Gunwharf Quays before returning to the hotel and stopped for a beer.

The memorial of HMS Sirius.

A last view of the tower, now cyan..

We'll be back here later today, I'm sure.

You can see more of my photos here on Flickr. [Update: The album now includes photographs of the graduation and subsequent celebrations].
