Beaujolais Nouveau Day

Today is Beaujolais Nouveau Day and I've collected my 6 bottles  of 2024 Beaujolais Nouveau from Domaine Pardon et Fils from Majestic Wine this morning

The label is quite retro, I think.

Here it is in the glass.

Quite purple, as you would expect.

Here are some tasting notes I found on the web.:

  • Aroma: Fresh grapes, small red fruits, and blackcurrant
  • Flavour: Burst of redcurrant and strawberry with a floral hint
  • Texture: Slightly creamy
  • Finish: Saline and structural
Beaujolais Nouveau is a young red wine made from Gamay grapes that are harvested six to eight weeks before bottling. It's released annually on the third Thursday of November at 12:01 AM, and is celebrated with festivities in Beaujolais.

The Pardon family has been making wine for over two centuries in the heart of Beaujolais. The grapes for the Beaujolais Nouveau come from the granite-rich soils of Beaujeu and Lantignié. The wine is not aged in oak, which allows the fresh fruit flavours to shine through.

Beaujolais Nouveau pairs well with hot or cold starters, cold meats, poultry, white meats, and ham quiche. It can be served slightly chilled at 12–14° C.

Very tasty!
