Although not the furst Thursday of the month (that was New Year's Day), today we had our first U3A Longer Walks Group walk of 2026.
This was the imvite from Rosalind."Our next walk will be on Thursday 8th January. Please meet at Mundford Village Hall ( voluntary parking contribution) for a figure of 8, 10 mile walk.
Post code: IP26 5DW W3W. handyman.drifting.requires
Generally sandy paths, coffee stop at Shepherd’s Baa if open. Picnic lunch back in Mundford, and then walking into Thetford Forest to search out the crash site of the 15 Sqn. RAF Lancaster Bomber. Boots on ready to walk at 10:00am."
This was our route, with the eastwards loop first.
Here are a few of my photos.
Mundford Village Hall is rather large.
A lovely, but chilly walk, and nobody fell on the ice. Thank-you Rosalind for leading us round and to the others for the additional company.
You can find more details of our 9.7 mile route here on MapMyWalk (or download a GPX file here).
