Hints and tips...
Here are a few hints and tips.
- In 1A the field is not agricultural.
- 8A is a regular commenter on these crosswords 😀.
- The farm animal at 9a's milk is used to make cheese.
- "Extremely" in 21A means take the outside letters.
- In 5D "grabs" indicates an insertion.
- 18D follows the rule-of-thumb that a two-word clue is generally a double definition.

Thanks very much for a great weekend QC. Particularly liked MORONIC, SCHISM and VISITORS. Nice reference to one of the regular bloggers!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I couldn’t resist the reference.
DeleteI thought it was going to be tough with 12 being my first across answer, but the downs mostly went in and then it was plain sailing. Very enjoyable thanks.
ReplyDeleteGlad the level was about right
DeleteWell now! You have made my day with 8A - your next challenge is to fit our colleague Doofenschmirtz into your next QC ...
ReplyDeleteA very nice puzzle, all done in 12 minutes, which is slightly slower than par. That's almost entirely due to a considerable hold-up on my LOI GOAT, where I was looking for a simple DD for a long time before the light bulb moment. All eventually done, parsed and much enjoyed - many thanks Sawbill!
I couldn't resist ... now for Doofenschmirtz
DeleteSlow, as always, but finished - thanks from 2 Octogenarians who's brains are definitely getting slower!
ReplyDeleteThank you both. The time is irrelevant in my opinion, it is the enjoyment of each clue.
DeleteVery enjoyable. Especially 9a Go-At. Now back to start Saturday's QC!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrew
DeleteGreat puzzle, encouraging after struggle on Sat. PDM/POI schism, LOI CEDRIC.
ReplyDeleteLiked BRANCH, ELUDES, MORONIC, among others.
Thanks vm, Sawbill and John.

DeleteAnother slow start for both of us, as earlier post, foi 12a! Frans favourite wasvisitors, mine, suitably, moronic. Not sure about the plural in 23a. Enjoyed the pdm with Cedric. Very enjoyable. Francesca and Chris
ReplyDeleteThanks both.
DeleteThanks a bunch, much enjoyed. When Cedric’s name came up I thought, “I should have chosen a shorter name” :-)
ReplyDeleteCan’t find how to log in here, hence the anonymous post.
- Doofenschmirtz
Thanks D. Cedric has challenged me to add your name in a future crossword.
