Ickworth Walk

We decided a Sunday morning walk was in order to walk off the excesses of our dinner out last night, Ickworth House is always a winter favourite, so we did that.

This was our route.

We started with Lady Geraldine's Walk. We were rewarded with our first snowdrops and winter aconites as well as the wooden carvings and some fragrant blosson.

We then went to see the reindeer and the front of the house

You can pay to write your own message on one of the new tiles for the roof.

Then we did the a lap of the Italianate Garden. The mistletoe was impressive.

Then it was down past the church to the River Linnett, looking as full as I've ever seen it, along past the pond and bird-hide, where we saw blue tits, a great tit and a willow tit, and on to the Fairy Lake.

Here we saw a sign saying paths were flooded and to follow marked detours and it was looking rather muddy, so we returned via the side of the walled garden back to the car park.

Well that was nice Sunday morning stroll.
