A Cambridge Reunion

Today I had a trip to Cambridge for a special lunch.

My fellow tenor in several choirs at University, including the St. Michael's Singers, Dave Singer, was in Cambridge for a couple of days and our mutual friend Guy, conductor of St. Michael's Singers arranged a get-together for lunch in Cambridge. We had hoped to meet at La Mimosa, which used to be the Spade and Becket pub, where we would often socialise back in the 1970s. This is how it looked in 2008 after it had become a restaurant.

Unfortunately it isn't open on Mondays. Instead we met at Cote in Bridge Street, close to Magdalene Bridge, where the punters were doing good business.

In total there were 7 former St. Michael's Singers there, including 5 of us who were in singing in Southwell together (see here). Along with Dave, we were joined by Fiona, who we had also not seen for over 40 years.

Guy took this excellent photo of Dave. He doesn't seem to have changed much.

Here we are at the table.

It was lovely to catch up. We tarried for over two hours, but it could have been longer. The conversation brought back many happy memories. Come back again soon Dave and bring Susanna... and sing with us again! Oh, and many thanks Dave for footing the bill.
