Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle Walk

We are in Craster for a week on holiday, arriving yesterday afternoon. This morning Dawn and I went for a walk before breakfast

to Dunstanburch Castle and back.

This was our route, going anti-clockwise.

Here are a few photos.

We are staying at the Harbour Master's House.

Across the road is the famous smokehouse, renowned for its kippers... more on that anon.

We are also right next door to The Jolly Fisherman, where we had an excellent meal last night.

This is the view from our dining area, overlooking the harbour with Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance.

And so to the walk...

We are staying in the middle house over there.

I cheated here. This photo was taken yesterday.

Looking inland we could see the Cheviot Hills in the distance.

We returned on a parallel route.

And here we are back in Craster...

...just in time for breakfast.

You can see more details of our 2.7 mile route here on MapMyWalk (or download a GPX file here) and more of my photos here on Flickr.
