High Lodge Open Day

Today was Open Day at High Lodge, which meant parking was free.

Joyce suggested meeting up there to go on a short walk, so we set off to get there early and have a cup of coffee before our walk. Carolyn and Adrian were joining us too. We were early enough to beat the queues at the barriers but the others weren't so lucky. The queue was all the way back to the main road.

But no matter. By the time we set off the place was filling up with families and we were glad to get away from on our short walk in the forest.

This was our short route.

Here are a few photos.

We had the café to ourselves when we had our coffee.

There were various stall around the perimeter here and a paintball course in the middle.

We started our walk going around the stalls. We stopped to admire the huskies.

We left all that behind to head into the forest.

The paths were good and the terrain flat, so good for my recovering knee.

We crossed the segway riders' route....

...and returned to the start via the Go Ape area.

We left before 12:30. Look how busy the café was when we did.

A pleasant gentle walk and I suffered no ill effects afterword. Thank-you Joyce for leading us and Dawn, Carolyn and Aidan for the company/
