Bildeston Ramblers Walk

It was ages since I'd managed to go on a Ramblers Saturday walk, but today I had the chance. And a great walk it was too! Here is the listing...

...and this was our route.

Expertly planned and led by Cath, we enjoyed some lovely countryside with a few little ups and downs and, as a result, some lovely views. We also had a lunch stop in the centre of Lavenham. Well you can't do any better than that. What is more we were blessed with rain-free weather, which not everyone got today.

There were 23 of us and the conversation was lively and the mood convivial. What a lovely walk. Thanks Cath!

Here are a few of my photos.

Cath briefing us on the walk to come...

The fields were waving in the breeze.

We passed some interesting new barn conversions done by Mexhomes.

Cath got us to pose on a bridge for a group photo. Here we were lining up (a bit like trying to herd cats)..

..and this was her  photo. I hope you don't mind me borrowing it, Cath!

We met some lovely horses behind fences sternly signposted with "Do not feed or touch the horses".

Our lunch stop and rendezvous for teh second half of the walk was near the iconic Guidhall in Lavenham.

We admired this old Daimler in the square.

As we set off again we passed this (un?)interesting blue plaque.

Well surely something happened. Such as this action during the American war of Independence. But in Lavenham? I see you can buy your own such plaque here on Amazon. But why that date for nothing happening. Maybe this has the answer!

Meanwhile, just as we were leaving Lavenham for the countryside once more, we had to stop to let this rather splendid Morgan 3-wheeler car go past. And the driver gave the camera a nice wave.

"Don't forget to look back ", Ron reminded us as we climbed out of Lavenham.

The poppies have been quite prolific this year , even more so than this around where I live.

We stopped at Preston St. Mary for a drinks break.

The churchyard was full of wild flowers.

But "plants of the day" has to go to the cereal crops in the fields we walked through.

I think I've found a new wallpaper picture for my work PC.

You can find more of my photos here on Flickr and more details of our route here on MapMyWalk.
