Felixstowe Ferry Walk

Sarah is suffering from hayfever so today we took a trip to Felixstowe Ferry for a circular walk to Falkenham and back, in the hope that the sea breeze would have blown the pollen away.

This was our route...

Here are a few of my photos...

We read the display board about the Hydrocycle scheme. These pumps have fine mesh screens which prevent aquatic animals and plants being sucked into the intake. As well as protecting the huge variety of species that live in the Kingsfleet. the screens help safeguard migratory European eels which are now a critically endangered species.

Kingsfleet is where Edward III fitted out his fleet for his expedition to Flanders in 1338.

Ready for harvest?

Field bindweed was growing in the middle of the road here.

We stopped for a drinks break at St Ethelbert's church in Falkenham....

...and admired the view.

Now it was back via Deben Bridge and Kingsfleet.

Before returing along the seawall...

..and lunch outside at the Ferry Café..

The theory was good, but there wasn't much breeze and once inland Sarah started sneezing. We need some rain to dampen the pollen down. At least she was OK in car as the air-conditioning filters out any pollen!

You can see more details of our walk here on MapMyWalk and more of my photos here on Flickr.
