Bedford Bamberg Beer Festival

Laura and Laurence have been on holiday this week visiting Prague but now they were home. They had discovered there was a German Beer Festival on celebrating the twinning of Bedford with Bamberg in Bavaria. They invited us to go through to Bedford and join them at it today. So we did!

It is the 10th anniversary of the first time they ran it. We arrived just too late to hear the band but enjoyed some beers from Bamberg itself and other regional beers.

Here are a few photos.

We parked at Laura and Laurence's place and walked into town. Laura and Laurence couldn't explain why there were all these umbrellas here. Maybe they are trying to get it to rain?

The beer festival was in the Harpur Suite.

We started with some draught beers.

The bar staff were all in Bavarian costume.

The food available was Bratwurst, with a selection of toppings.

We had a table by the bottle beer bar. They had a great selection.

The bottles were all on display over the bar but the lady behind it couldn't find the one I wanted. "I only really know how to serve Heineken", she said.

This is the main hall with the draught beers on the left.

There were also tables outside.

Here are some of the interesting beers we had.

Lovely! Thank-you Laura and Laurence for inviting us... and Dawn for drinking the 0% alcohol beers and driving me home afterwards.
