Yesterday evening we had a little walk from Beyton to Tostock and back to see the Cars on the Green.
This was the invite from Joyce.
"Thursday June 18th Cars on the Green at Tostock Village from 4.30pm. We have permission to park at Beyton Church and the walk to Tostock is 2 miles each way. Please park/meet at Beyton Church for 4.30pm for our walk over. The queues at the pub for drinks and BBQ are likely to be very long so I will be taking a snack and drink with me. After a look at the cars, we will make our way back. ETA back at Beyton will be approx 6.30-7pm. "
Here are a few of my photos.
We parked as planned at Beyton Church.
This path was a bit constricted between the hedge and oilseed rape, not at its scratchiest.
We passed some cherry trees. The first we tried had very sour fruits, but Jiyce found this one with sweeter cherries.
We crossed the A14 and walked on paths through the fields to Tostock.
We were using the same path we had taken on
this walk from Norton last month, and entered the village again via the "Best kept village" sign.
Now for the cars. Dawn and I were impressed with how many there were, and the variety to be seen.
We visited the Gardener's Arms to collect a beer.
Here are some of the cars.
This Aston Martin
DBS Superleggera was one of my favourites. With a 5.2L V-12 it has a top speed of 211mph and can do 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds.
I used to have an MGB GT, but of a later vintage than this classic one.
My Mum and Dad's first car was a Ford Anglia like this (named for reasons that have been lost in time as "Bobo") in the same colour.
This black F-type Jaguar was the one I'd have liked to take home.
The green is surrounded by lovely cottages, with lovely gardens.
The cars kept arriving while we were there and parking places became hard to find.
We enjoyed the crochet-bombing on the postbox here.
This young lady was delighted to tell us all about her pretty Alpine car.
An Aston-Martin DB6 was parked here.
Time to go and we returned (mostly) the way we came, just avoiding the path by the oilseed rape by walking along the road through Beyton instead.
It was a lovely sunny evening.
And here we are back at our cars.
Thank-you Joyce for organising us to go and leading the way there and back. It was well worth the visit!
