Times for the Times Summer Gathering 2026

Yesterday we had what has become an annual London summer get together of cruciverbalists at The George on Borough High St in London.

We had a good turnout of about 25 people despite a number of regulars not being able to make it. We had several Times for The Times bloggers and commenters, the Times Crossword Editor and the Sunday Times crossword editor along with a few setters. I brought along name badges for people, but unfortunately ran out. I must bring more next year!

I travelled from Bury St. Edmunds by train to Liverpool Street and had a pleasant meander to the George crossing the river via the Millennium Bridge (the view at the top of the blog). Here are a few more of my photos.

I wasn't the first to arrive.

On the table in the picture above you can see a packet of baseball card - Paul.in.London had brought a lot along and gave them to people. Here's my set.... and I brought home a few spares too if anyone wants any.

On the back, you get some of the player's stats.

When I met Paul previously he issued a challenge to come up with a crossword with as many baseball terms in as possible... so I did. I brought along some paper copies for people, but you can find it elsewhere on my blog - Weekend Quick Cryptic 157 - In The Ball Park was my latest in the Weekend Quick Cryptic series and published on Friday.

Of course, as all three of us were there we had to have a photo of the three Weekend Quick Cryptic setters.

When I left there were still 6 revellers remaining.

I walked back to Liverpool Street, this time via London Bridge.

Thanks to all for coming. You can see more of my photos here on Flickr, which include some pictures from my meander from and back to Liverpool St.
