Brewing and Pickling

Yes. Tassel Nanobrewery is back in action. Yesterday I started a batch of Chestnut Brown Ale. And Tassel Pickles was in action too... a batch of pickled green jalapeƱos, and today some more Razorback sauce is currently bubbling away on the hob.

This is the kit I am using.

And this is the special extra  ingredient.

The instructions...

...are not hard to follow.

After cooking my mash, here it is mid-sparge...

and the resulting wort.

Now the boil, after adding some of the hops and chestnuts, and the rest of the hops towards the end.

Ready for fermenting, it looks suitably brown!

And here we go with an old campari bottle holding the blow-off tube in the steriliser.

Meanwhile here are the chopped peppers in jars waiting for the pickling liquid.

Is the beer fermenting OK? Well here is what it looks like this afternoon!

Looking good. And it should be ready to bottle in 2 weeks time and ready to drink just in time for Christmas!

Now how's my Razorback sauce doing? I can smell vinegar and peppers...
