Happy Birthday Laura

It was Laura's birthday today so we went through to Bedford to meet her and Laurence and take them out for a meal.

We arrived in time for coffee. It was a lovely sunny day and we had a walk down to the embankment and along the River Great Ouse. Here are a few pictures.

When we arrived at the river we crossed to Mill Meadows,

Some rowers came under the bridge as we watched.

Bedford lock seems very narrow.

We walked along the south side of the river as far as the main road bridge. Here we saw lots more rowers on the water getting some practice in, we discovered, for the Bedford regatta tomorrow.

We came back along the other side. The tulips were looking very colourful.

After lunch at The Park, we visited Bedford Park. They are looking at the fish.

There was still some lovely blossom around on some trees.

We ventured a little further west to Hill Rise local nature reserve.  Laura told us she had seen tadpoles in this pond.

And, sure enough, there were lots of them.

Then it was back to the flat to pick up some unneeded bedding etc to take home and leave them with a bit more room.

What a lovely day out! I think we'll be back in Bedford to explore a bit more soon.
