Newbourne Walk

Today Dawn wasn't teaching so asked if we could go for a walk. I thought she and Sarah might like a shorter version of the walk I did with Joyce's group recently (see here).

This was our route, starting at the Village Hall and finishing at The Fox for lunch. From there it was just a short walk back to the car. This was our route.

Here are a few of my photos.

We started by crossing the boardwalk as before.

The paths had been recently cut but there were still plenty of wild flowers in the edges. Here we found some chicory.

We stopped to look around  All Saints Church., Hemley.

We saw plenty of food crops. Here are some potatoes.

It was almost windless today, so the water of the River Deben reflected the sky like a mirror.

Our drinks stop was at  The Maybush

Walking further up the river we wondered what these structures in the water were...

...and if these rolls on posts in the John Pretyman-Waller nature reserve were mean to be nesting sites. This one had an oystercatcher perched on it/

The view back downriver.

We saw an egret on the reserve.

Shortly before turning inland we got a view of Woodbridge.

We found a sneaky path through a tunnel of foliage.

Back in Waldrignfield we admired these hollyhocks that were just coming out.

As we were passing, we visited All Saints, Waldringfield church too.

Then it was back to Newbourne and lunch at The Fox Inn...

...before passing the village sign on our way back to the car.

A nice walk ...and lunch too! And our foodstuff catalogue of what we saw on the walk? Barley, Wheat, Oil-seed Rape, Potatoes, Sugar Beet, Apples, Cherries... did I forget any?

You can see more details of our route here on MapMyWalk and more of my photos here on Flickr.
