Ickworth House Amble

It was Sunday morning and Laura was visiting for the weekend to celebrate Dawn and Sarah's birthdays. I got my slow-roast pork shoulder in the oven by 9 a.m. and, once everyone was up, the four of us went to Ickworth House for a morning walk.

Here are a few of my photos.

The House is having some work done on it at the moment.

We enjoyed the herbaceous borders. We saw loads of painted lady butterflies. There were lots of bees on the catmint and even a hummingbird moth, it's wings just a blur.

There was an olive in the olive tree and a throne in the stumpery.

We then did a loop around the Albana Walk, which has had the foliage thinned out. This was a nice view across the estate. I think that is Chevington Church in the distance.

Then it was home to put the potatoes and veg on while the girls did a bit of shopping. That was a nice Sunday morning stroll.

You can see more of my photos here on Flickr and details of our amble here on MayMyWalk.
