Lunch with Terry and Jill

We are up in Bridge of Allan staying with Kirsty and David for a few days, including a clan gathering on Saturday and the Bridge of Allan Highland Games on Sunday.

We travelled up yesterday (as did Sue) and today we took a trip north to Ballintuim, just north of Blairgowrie to meet up with my old school friend Terry Thistlethwaite and his wife Jill. They generously invited us all to come and have lunch with them.

A few years ago they bought a mansion called Balmyle house and have been doing it up. It is still work in progress but very impressive.

You can read ana rticle about the house when it was previous for sale in Scottish Field magazine here.

It has 6 bedrooms and 10 acres of land including a walled garden, including an orchard. Terry uses the apples from the orchard to make cider and he served some with the lunch. It is very good.

Here are a couple of photos...

There was a greenhouse here that got destroyed ina storm last winter, but the peach tree against the wall had some lovely looking peaches.

No servants to call these days!

It was lovely to see them. It is a long time since Sue and Kirsty had met them. Thank-you Terry and Jill for the hospitality... and the bottles of cider to take away!
