Stowmarket Food and Drink Festival

Today Dawn, William and I went to the Stowmarket Food and Drink Festival.

We went 2 years ago and enjoyed it a lot (see here) but missed the date last year. Before we left home, I asked Dawn if she had a waterproof with her. "It's not going to rain, is it?" she replied, but she brought one anyway, which was just as well...

Here are a few photos.

I had a burrito from the stall at the end, Bad Boi Burritos, later. It was very tasty!

William had a German sausage for a late breakfast.

We then walked along Ipswich Street past the main set of stalls.

We tried all the local  Burnt House Vineyard wines. They were all very good. I bought a bottle of their Bacchus later.

We didn't like the flavoured rums here, though.

I recognised the gin from Heart of Suffolk Distillery from looking through the windows of the distillery on this walk from Bacton. Dawn thought mine tasted better than the two we tried.

We bought some spice mixes from Foodiie and I made a chicken curry with the Xacuti Goan mix this evening. Very fragrant and spicy without being hot.

We visited the Red House.

They had live music here.

But as we returned towards the Ipswich Street stalls, it started to rain. We took shelter in the 1936 café at the Regal cinema.

It rained quite hard for about 30 minutes, but when it eased off we carried on.

Sadly for the stallholders, there were rather fewer people about now.

These pickles looked nice. Maybe I can try making some like they had on sale.

After collecting my burrito it started to rain again and we retreated to the Food Museum and the last day of the Beer Festival I had visited on Friday (see here). Dawn gallantly volunteered to be the designated driver so William and I could enjoy a beer or two.

As you can see, we had seating under cover.

There was still a good selection of beers on. I think they will have quite a bit left at teh end as there weren't many customers.

I was able to tick off a few more beers, including Brentwood Brewery Chockwork Orange (Old Ale) (6.5%), which was  a favourite of mine at the Colchester Winter Beer Festival in January (see here).... and today.

Meanwhile the rain was teeming down. See the rain pouring of the roof  here.

But we enjoyed ourselves....

...until the rain eased off again and we could get back to the car without getting soaked.

A lovely day out. A pity about the weather!
