Hints and tips...

Here are a few hints and tips.
  • In 1A you need to find a two-word phrase for a type of industrial action and remove the outer letters.
  • In 23A "up" is used in the equestrian sense.
  • For 4D the type of music piece played at or announcing dawn is a French word which you should be able to construct from the charade if you don't know it
  • In 17D "on board" is an insertion indicator.
