Today was Day 7 of Joyce's Mini Walking Festival and today we were walking from Hintlesham.
This was the invite from Joyce...
Please park/meet at Hintlesham Community Hall for our 10am start. Sadly there are no toilets on this walk and you’ll need lunch etc too. The post code is IP8 3PS. It’s probably a new area for a lot of you. Expect some great views and lots of variation.
Yes it was new to me, but only about 1/2 hour's drive from home.
This was our route...
Here are a few of my photos.
Joyce giving us our briefing at the start.
It was a chilly wind but we had plenty of sunshine and didn't get wet. There are lots of power lines around.
We stopped at All Saints and St Margaret, Chattisham church for a drinks break.
We admired the holly fencing.
We passed a magnolia in full bloom. The magnolias around my area have all suffered from the April frosts.
Joyce pointed out this Victorian postbox.
Believe it or not, this is a footpath - right through someone's garden.
We walked on a few boardwalks. This one even had mud still.
There were a few bluebells out in this wood. A good sign for the Bluebell walk coming up on Monday.
While we are at it... a mass of cowslips here, but we didn't see any oxlips - maybe they aren't in this part of Suffolk.
There are plenty of primroses out too....
...and we also saw some pretty wood anemones.
This field is growing curly parsley. Who likes curly and who likes flat? We were divided.
Apart from the field driving into Hintlesham, our sight of deer today was fleeting.
We stopped for our lunch break at the top of the hill. Plenty of oil-seed rape to see.
We came to this field with sheep and geese...
...including a family of goslings...
...and plenty of cute little lambs.
We walked almost underneath this pylon.
Then it was through some lovely countryside and past the golf course.
We thought this might make an interesting project for The Repair Shop.
Soon after we were back in Hintlesham, passing St Nicholas church....
..before crossing the road to reach our starting point.
Thanks Joyce, as ever, for the walk and the other ladies too for the company. An interesting new area and, yes, plenty of ups and downs.
You can find more details of our 9 mile route here on MapMyWalk and more of my photos here on Flickr.
