Lots of interesting clues- especially enjoyed WATTLE ,WILLOW and THRALL. Indent for space and vision for strategy took me a while but both were clever . I thought rocky tomb was anagrist at first but then saw it was tomb at sea instead. Thanks for entertaining workout!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteI loved TWIG! Had a chuckle at CHESTNUT- thanks for the crossword!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting. TWIG and CHESTNUT were two of my favoutites.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant compilation John, with its lovely stroll, ‘across’ the forest!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
Thanks vm for the enjoyable and confidence-restoring puzzle. Could not parse CARD though, as didn’t know it as a verb. Heard of red and yellow cards, of course. Liked all the trees.

Very good John, thank you. PINE, TWIG and CEDAR were excellent! CHESTNUT was fun but seems to have two definitions. CARD seems a bit iffy to me. Really enjoyed that. Templar
ReplyDeleteVery nice puzzle which I was surprised to see took me only 11 minutes. It felt tougher and slower than that as I was doing it, and I never did parse CARD (didn't think of card as a verb) or INCISION (didn't spot Vision, just biffed with the checkers in).
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, a quick google search on Steamboat Tree shows that Steamboat is a well known ski resort in Colorado where the unique selling point is skiing through the trees. Who'd have guessed it? But perhaps a bit tenuous for a Saturday Special (and possibly even for a 15x15 clue).
Many thanks John for a fun puzzle
Cedric
Another thoroughly enjoyable weekend QC. 16:42 for me which happily keeps me out of the SCC which is always my aim! Thank you! MM
ReplyDeleteJust got round the tackling this after a busy weekend! Very enjoyable and as a person keen on trees, good fun too! many thanks and well done - Andrew Turner
ReplyDeleteVery good as usual - although Linden defeated me it has to be said.

Oh dear, biffed Fellow and Excision. How dim. But enjoyed the puzzle. Many thanks from Countrywoman.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I miss the daily cryptic on a Saturday and this filled the gap nicely. Was doing quite well then speeded up when I spotted the woodland theme. Ian V
