A Drink to the Late Queen - Glenturret Whisky

After spending the day watching the funeral services and processions, this evening we opened my bottle of 12-year-old Glenturret Whisky that I bought at the distillery on holiday (see here) to raise a glass to the late Queen.

The bottle is rather pretty, being designed by Lalique, and we used the two tasting glasses (plus an ordinary one from the cupboard for William).

It was as good as I remembered from tasting it at the distillery and is one to be savoured slowly. It will next come out of the box at Christmas, I think.

While were at it, we opened the smoked cheddar we had got from the Falls of Dochart Smokehouse, where we had lunch (see here). It is smoked using oak chips from used Glenturret distillery casks.

Very tasty! Rest in peace, Elizabeth R.
