Horringer Walk

Today we had a Marbella prequel walk. Just Joyce, Jane and myself, who will be walking in Marbella later this week.

We started in Horringer and looped around Ickworth House, having coffee in the café there before ascending into the woods. This was the invite:

"Monday Oct 3rd. Horringer. Please park on Meadow Drive, Horringer IP29 5SB (past the primary school) and we will meet at the very bottom of the road at 10amand take the more unusual, hidden public right of way into Ickworth Park. I am guessing that we will walk about 9-10 miles in total and we will take a lunch break at The Porters Lodge which sells drinks.

This was our route, although I didn't get my tracker started for the first 1/4 mile :

Here are a few of my photos.

Our first view of the rotunda.

We visited the monument.

Our stop for coffee was here.

Here we headed up to the woods.

We saw some deer but I failed to catch them on camera. This was our hand tree lunch seat. Joyce is photographing at the same time I am.

We took some unfamiliar paths through the Ickworth estate on our way back.

We emerged at the gatehouse.

On our way back to our cars we found the play park. Who's driving?

That was a nice walk. Not as much up and down as we will experience soon, though. Thank-you Joyce and Jane. See you later in the week!

You can see more details of our route here on MapMyWalk.
