Family Visit to Anglesey Abbey

This week we have had Kirsty and David staying, and they joined Joyce's Weekly Walks on Tuesday (Nacton Shores) and yesterday (East Bergholt - Constable Country). In the evening yesterday we were joined by Sue, who is singing in Bury St. Edmunds Cathedral tomorrow and Lavenham on Saturday.

We all had the day together today before Kirsty and David headed for their overnight campervan stop near St. Ives. This morning we visited Long Melford and had lunch at The Cock & Bell before visiting Anglesey Abbey this afternoon. Alas the Dazzling Dahlias have all been chopped down and the bulbs lifted for winter now, but it was lovely to visit nonetheless. Here are a few photos.

The highlight of the winter walk was the carpet of cyclamen in among the trees.

Lode Mill is closed at the moment.

The roses are still going...

...and there is still a bedding of bronze-leaved 'Madame Stapper' and 'Ellen Britton' dahlias providing a sea of red and orange in the formal garden....

...with some impressively tall canna lilies.

Back home we had a tasting for Sue of some whiskies, including our Glenturret 12 year old
