Wattisfield Walk

It was a lovely Saturday afternoon. "Shall we go for a walk?", asked Dawn. I thought about where we could go and decided I'd take her to do a walk based on one I'd done on my own in November last year at Wattisfield (see here).

This was our route today.

Here are a few of my photos.

We visited St. Margaret's Church first.

It is dedicated to St. Margaret of Antioch. Hers is a colourful story.

There are some lovely houses in the village.

The village is quite scattered. This path goes through it.

We came out at this house inscribed with "With thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed forever".

South of the village now we spotted some deer in the distance. They ran through the hdge into the next field...

...where we saw them again 10 minutes later.

Hmm. Not easy to see, so you'll have to take our word for it!

Some lovely broad paths through the fields.

The path narrowed, but I was puzzled by the sign. How could anyone have been driving along the path we had walked?

We came to the grundle which had some steep steps down into it.

What is a grundle? Read this about this nearby one in Stanton.

After a little over half a mile along the grundle a short path took us back to the centre of the village

That was a lovely short walk and we were home in plenty of time to cook the evening meal.

You can see more details of our route here on MapMyWalk and more of my photos here on Flickr.
