More Pickled Onions

The first batch are ready to eat and nice and crunchy. On Wednesday I bought another 3lb of pickling onions on the market for £1.80 and pickled some more.

I soaked them in brine for 24 hours starting Thursday night before peeling and brining again for another couple of days, and finished the job by putting them in jars with sweetened vinegar and spices this morning.. This time a got 2 large jars and 2/3 of a smaller jar. I  also put some pickled red cabbage I had done recently into s proper jar and labelled it too.. This is the what they look like.


Thanks Joyce for reminding me of the tip of pouring boiling water over the onions before peeling them. I did that and it was much easier than the first batch.
