I'd never heard of this until this BBC News story about a DJ playing the song at a football match and having to apologise.

I thought I was doing quite well and on course to make it to Christmas Eve despite shopping in places playing Christmas music, but then tonight there was a story on BBC Radio 4 six o'clock news about the song making it to the Christmas No 1... and then they played an excerpt. Aaargh!
