Landguard Point

Today, while Sarah was attending an online training course at home, we took Ethan to Landguard Point to show him a different side of Suffolk - the Felixstowe docks and Landguard Point Nature Reserve.

Here are a few pictures.

We parked at the Viewpoint. There was another MSC container ship in the nearest berth, this time the MSC Victorine, built only last year.

As we walked towards the point, the foot ferry form Harwich arrived.

These lookout towers at the fort look menacing even in the sunshine.

Further along we got a better view of the extent of the port.

There was quite a stiff breeze coming from the north.

The waves were crashing against the decaying pier structures.

The sea looked silvery looking into the early afternoon sun.

We walked through the Nature Reserve towards the town all the way to the car park at the other end before turning back.

There is plenty of sea kale, but we didn't pick any.

Returning by the museum next to the fort (which was closed) we found the wicker family that used ot be in the gardens along the esplanade.

We had our lunch at the Viewpoint café.

Then we took a drive through the town and golf course to get to Felixstowe Ferry.

The foot ferry across the Deben was running but we didn't see any passengers for it today.

Rusty fish and chips, anyone?

Another lovely day out!
