After distilling my little bit of apple brandy in April (see here), I ordered some oak chips and, when they arrived, added some to the bottle. I thought I'd see how it was getting on....
A nice brown brandy colour now and an oaky taste. You could almost, but not quite, imagine it was Calvados. I think I probably need to decant it off the oak now. Something to sip after dinner on a special occasion, I think. I think I'll have to make some more!
