Dyrham Park

Today we had a day out at Dyrham Park, just a few miles from Kirsty and David's.

We followed the Prospect and Terrace Walks and visited the exhibition, house and gardens.

Here are a few photos.

We got excellent views on the Prospect Walk, This one towards Pucklechurch...

...and this of the Severn Bridge and Wales in the distance.

Here we all are at the viewpoint....

...where we learnt all about the history for this Dutch guide....

..who explained that when William of Orange became King we became a Dutch colony.

We visited the church....

...and admired these thistles outside.

The newly opened exhibition was very well done with short video clips and then display material, explaining the history of the place and of William Blathwayt .

We had lunch at the tearoom, just beating the rush.

I enjoyed the great variety of apples in the garden...

...and the flowerbeds, of course.

The lake.

Anyone for quoits?

Here are the bells to tell the servants when and where they are needed.

All very impressive. And now for the climb back to the car park.

A lovely day out. Thank-you Kirsty for suggesting it.

You can see more of my photos here on Flickr.
