This was a nice start to the weekend...
"Gold Arts Award Performance –
‘Celebration of Women’ 19 July 2019
On Friday 19
July 2019 your son/daughter is taking part in the ‘Celebration of Women’ show. The performance is a showcase celebrating influential women
of the past 100 years. The project has been organised by Arts Award Gold
students in Year 12, working on Unit 2 of their qualification (leadership of an
arts project). The event will be held in the Performing Arts Centre from
6pm until approximately 8.30pm. ", said the letter from school.
William was playing his cello in 2 of the items on the programme, so we went along to watch.
Planned, organised and performed by the students, it was a great demonstration of the talent at the school. Well done, in particular, to Nina and Tobi who contributed massively. I particularly enjoyed... the introductory piano piece with accompanying '101 years' slide show about the sufragette movement, which set the scene nicely, Tobi's 'Oprah Winfrey duet and 'Frida Kahlo and Maya Angelou' film and Nina's 'Attempting Comedy', self-effacingly described as a mistake.
Too early to see anything from the event on the school website, but this explains what the Gold Arts Award is about. The event gets an A* from me!
