Eildon Hills Walk

Being in the Melrose area for the day, this was a must do walk. A proper hill to climb! But rather than walk from Melrose, we drove to Bowden, where Dawn's sister Jan has just moved to, parked outside her house and did the walk from there while Jane was out.

This was our route from the St. Cuthbert's Way Short walks book.

This is how it was shown in the book.

We started at the fountain in Bowden and crossed some of Bowden Common and up a short stretch of road to Bowdenmoor reservoir.

We met a couple with their dog walking the hills too, but they had no map and had no idea where they were or which way to go! I let them photograph the maps of the two Eildon walks as a reference and pointed them in the right direction. We followed them for a while before they wandered off-piste to climb Little Hill.

When we got to the crest between the hills and had a nice view of Melrose, I carried on up the hill while Dawn turned back down St. Cuthbert's Way.

Yes. Up there. It was a bit of a scramble at times as it was rather steep in places.

And here I am at the top at 244m. It was a bit blowy!

Lovely views!

On the way back down I caught up with Dawn - she had gone the wrong way and had to backtrack!

And then we were back at Bowden and Met up with Jane and Bethany.

Well that was a cracking walk. But I wasn't finished for the day yet...
