Jedburgh and The Wee Thistle

As Sarah and William are away for a week on the Suffolk Youth Orchestra tour to Italy, we thought we would go away ourselves for a few days. On Saturday I managed to book us a 4 night stay in Jedburgh in a flat above the chocolate shop called The Wee Thistle. I took Sarah and William to Ipswich for their bus and we set off at about 11:30. The A1 was quite busy but once we passed Ferrybridge, where we stopped for a bite to eat, it got a bit quieter. We travelled via the A696 and A68 to cross the border at the spectacular Carter Bar. Jedburgh is the first town in Scotland o this route and we arrived about 5:30pm and were able to park right outside the flat.

We were very well welcomed with a handwritten note and some goodies including bread, butter, biscuits, Irn Bru, haggis flavoured crisps, oatcakes and some of the proprietor Fiona's home made shortbread, jam and tablet. And, what is more, there was a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge! Thank-you Fiona! And she even dropped by the following evening to check everything was OK.

It is just a 1-bedroom flat, but very comfortable and very well equipped. It suited us just fine.
