Corbridge

We decided to take a different route home, following the A68 all the way to the A1 near Darlington. We stopped first at Carter Bar to say goodbye to Scotland.

We thought this interesting. What will they do with it after Brexit?

Then we stopped for a while in Corbridge, on the banks of the River Tyne. Here we found an interesting micropub in the Pele tower..

..and the remains of the roman town, where we took the audio tour...

...before walking back along the river Tyne to the car and the rest of the journey home.

Well that was a lovely trip away. We had a lovely place to stay and we were very lucky with the weather getting rained on for only about 15 minutes on one of our walks. With the Jed Water, Teviot, Tweed and Tyne we got some nice riverside walks and we enjoyed visiting Jedburgh, Melrose and Kelso and climbing the Eildon Hills. The Scottish Borders are well worth a visit! And what is more, we finished our round trip and excursions of just over 700 miles on a single tank of diesel.
