It's Tuesday, so that means another mid-length walk from the Bury St. Edmunds Ramblers...
Yes. Today it was a circular walk from Cavendish. Not, as I expected, a walk including stretches of the River Stour, but rather a walk into the undulating countryside. This was (more or less) our route. (Yet again I forgot to start my tracking and the start - but if you imagine starting at the finish, you would be close enough).
A good turnout today of about 40 walkers we set out into the somewhat parched countryside. Not much commentary needed.. here are a few photos from along our way...
We stopped here in the shade for a drinks break before what Dave described as the "Big Dipper".
Dave told us that the actress Billie Whitelaw used to live here.
We wondered what these lovely blue flowers were, but no-one seemed to know. From what I can find on the Internet they look like chicory to me. But what were they doing as a patch in a field or two?
Some of the landscape views were impressive.
We enjoyed the donkeys, Shetland ponies and geese we met on this farm.
We walked alongside what would normally be a stream for a while. But look at it. Dry as a bone.
Eventually, we returned to Cavendish and got the promised "Chocolate Box Village"
A great morning's walk. Thanks Dave!
