I'd never been to the Isle of Wight. But it is only a short ferry ride from Miss L's in Portsmouth. First choice... passenger hovercraft or car ferry? Well, for the 4 of us, car ferry was cheaper as long as we didn't travel at expensive times. So car ferry it was.
We arrived in plenty of time for our 10:30 sailing, so were one of the first on... and last off. Great views of both Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight on the way.
We drove through Newport, but didn't stop and on to Shanklin. Miss S and Mr W wanted to visit a sandy beach. We also had lunch at the beach cafe and visited the old village before going on to Ryde.
Too soon we had to head back to the ferry and, this time, we were bumped onto an earlier one at 16:00.. the second last vehicle on.
Another lovely ferry ride in the sun gave us more lovely views. Must go for longer next time!
Then it was a quick pit stop for tea at Miss L's before heading for home.
