Felsham Walk

We are having a short visit from William at the moment. He came down from York to help Nina's family move house on Friday and has come on to us this morning before returning to York tomorrow for the last 3 weeks of term. So it was a first roast dinner for him since before the start of term and, despite the heat and the pollen count being very high, he wanted to go for a walk. I decided a shorter version of this walk I did in the wind from Felsham via Bradfield Woods would do the trick.

This was our route today.

 Here are a few photos.

We admired the memorial railings on the fire escape at the village hall....

...before heading off through the village and out into the countryside.

Just before Bradfield woods we came across some sainfoin. I recognised it from seeing it in the wildflower verge along Mount Rd, where someone has again chalked on the pavement the name of plants you can see in the verge at that point. It is frecnh for "Holy-hay" - read about it here.

It was nice and shady in Bradfield Woods.

We came across some ladies doing some painting with their work so far hung out to dry across the path.

Heading back into Felsham we passed some allotments. Are these hops being grown here?

We visited St Peter's church, which was open.

The list of rectors goes back to 1307!

Then  it was home to make the home made pizza for lunch... no we didn't have our roast dinner in the heat of the day, but waited until evening.

Nice to see you William. See you again soon.
