Sloe Gin

If you saw my post of my Honington walk yesterday, you will have seen I picked some sloes...

Time to make some sloe gin. I'd never made any before, but it wasn't difficult. I used this recipe from BBC Good food.

I had about 200g of sloes, so only needed 400ml of gin and 100g sugar. I went to Sainsbury's and bought a bottle of their cheap own brand as I didn't want to use my home-distilled gin.

Pricking each sloe took a little while but I soon had my jar and, after an initial shake, the gin was already strongly coloured.

I'll have to remember to shake it every day for the next week before putting it away in a cool dark place. It should be ready by Christmas 😀
