Our ash tree in the back garden is in its full autumn glory now.
The days are getting colder and its time to harvest this year's chilli crop.
We poured plenty of loving care into these Habanero chilli plants that Kirsty gave us seeds of (see here)...
...but alas the results have been meagre.
Our jalapeños and cayenne peppers are also a little disappointing.
The leaves were starting to wilt with the low overnight temperatures and today the habaneros were looking rather forlorn. Never mind, Kirsty, I think these are just not for our climate unless you can keep them above 20 degrees all summer and autumn.
Time to bring in the harvest.
A basin-full for me to do something with, but I think I'll leave them a few days in the warm in the house first... there are a couple starting to turn red and maybe some will ripen. We will see. More anon.
