Ickworth Light Nights

Tonight we had a trip to Ickworth House to see Ickworth's Light Nights.

We saw the bulbs unlit on our walk there last Friday, (see here) and Dawn said should would like to see them. So I got some tickets for entry between 6:30 and 6:45 tonight, as the weather forecast was fine.

This is how it was described...

"A magical light trail 10 - 26 November 2023

Spend an evening wandering through paths lined by willow woven animal sculptures and be transported into a Victorian-esque gothic Stumpery before marvelling at this Italianate palace. Showcasing this home of great art, this year is the first we are lighting the front of the Rotunda, illuminating it not only for visitors to admire the building’s impressive façade but the North Lawn and vast Cedar meadow it overlooks.

The trail is a celebration of Ickworth’s outdoors, encouraging you to see the estate in a new light and draw attention to places you may have previously overlooked. In 2023/24, we are celebrating the creative innovation that inspired the Earl Bishop’s visons for Ickworth Estate. "

The car park was very busy when we arrived, but we got a parking spot and joined the other visitors following the trail. Here are a few photos. The stumpery was particularly spectacular, but the col, oured lighting was beyond the capabilities of my camera's metering and auto-focussing at times.

Well that was worth seeing the once, but I thought it a bit pricy at £11.50... and there was no discount for National Trust members, which I thought was a bit off.

You can see some more of my photos here on Flickr..
