Some Autumn Sun at Ickworth - and Some Sundogs

It was a lovely day today so Dawn and I went out for a short walk this afternoon to enjoy the sunshine. We went to Ickworth House and just had a short walk for about 1 1/2 hours.

Here are a few photos.

We visited the Italianate garden first, where we bumped into Jane and Squints having a cup of tea outside the orangery.

But on the way to the garden we passed these deer willow sculptures made by Helen Coletta.

There are several other animal sculptures too.

Here is Dawn photographing the other peacock.

The rotunda looked impressive against the blue sky.

As did this tree.

We found a strawberry tree next the path leading along the West Wing.

There is a lot of mistletoe on the estate.

The stumpery looked good in the dappled sunlight.

Jane and Squints were about to leave.

A herd of willow pics in the trees.

Then we walked down past the church to the river and then along to the lake before returning up the other side of the walled garden.

But what was this we could see in the sky as we walked down the hill?

It is a sun dog. Seen when the sun is getting low and there are ice crystals floating high up.

A little further on we saw the one on the other side of the sun too!

The River Linnet was flowing well.

We followed it along to the lake.

On our way back up the hill we saw first a deer rushing across the park and then a fox. Can you spot it? I didn't have my camera today to zoom in so it was just a shot with my phone.

Well that was a lovely walk, and didn't we see a lot?
