Falkenham Walk 1st December

On Thursday, while I was on my walk from Hawkedon with the U3A Bury St. Edmunds Longer Walks Group (see here), Joyce was leading a walk from Falkenham...

...starting and finishing at the house of our walking friends Barry and Dawn.

This was their route.

Here are a few photos and Joyce's commentary.

"Thursday 1st DecemberWe have had a kind invite to park at our friends, Barry and Dawn's in Falkenham . We will meet at 10am and I've devised a circular walk to Newbourne, Hemley of about 10 miles. We will be in Newbourne at midday so you are welcome to visit Nourish Cafe & Deli, Newbourne, Suffolk (nourishsuffolk.co.uk) or The Fox for a refreshment stop or eat your pack up at the Village Hall Rec. "

11 of us set off in the drizzle which took us by surprise. Thankfully it only lasted a few minutes and the rest of the walk was lovely.

We soon found Kirton Church, down a very quiet lane. An impressive cross-stitch drew our eye. More details of the church can be found on this website Suffolk Churches

We then used some wide, sandy tracks over to Newbourne, where some of us enjoyed the coffee shop and others ate their pack-up at the Village Hall benches. After lunch , we took a familiar route back to Falkenham.

A very nice 10 mile circular route that was rewarded with steaming cups of tea , mince pies and posh biscuits as we caught up with our generous hosts. We hope it won’t be long before we are back. Thanks Dawn and Barry.

I was sorry to miss it.
